While the Government and its bodies serve notices to gauthans (gaothans / villages) for various “development schemes” like SRA, SEZ,..etc. The Government fails to specify to which specific area the notice is given. Without specific area the notice tends to become vague as one does not know which area is exactly part of that gauthan / village. This maybe a deliberate design to be ambiguous.
It is critically important that all the gaothans (villages) and ward be clearly demarcated so that the citizens are aware of their residential status, their village, their ward.

Over time all villages grow and hence the need to allocate additional space to each village is paramount. However, in Bombay, Salsette, Thana, Bassein and surroundings, due to the influx of migrants from other parts of the country, the gaothans were not allocated land. Whatever government land is there is being given to the builder mafia, while depriving the native East Indians their right to grow in their own native place i.e. Bombay
